The American Legion Auxiliary Foundation welcomes Danielle Applegate and Ann Fournier to its board of directors. Both will serve as elected directors for a three-year term ending in 2027. 

Applegate is a ninth-generation veteran with dual-military parents. She served on active duty in the US Army and the National Guard; her duty included a tour in Korea. Due to service-connected injuries, she left active duty and earned an MBA from the University of Massachusetts and a nonprofit executive certificate from Georgetown University. As a published military and veteran community subject-matter expert and advocate, Applegate gives her time and expertise widely, to include chairing the board of directors for the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans and serving on the board of directors for PsychArmor Institute, Hesperus, the National Physical Activity Alliance, and Carry the Load. Applegate lives in northern Virginia where she is being raised by two delightful teens who enjoy volunteering as much as she does.

“Danielle brings a woman veteran’s perspective to our board, important especially because her service is recent. We are excited to welcome and learn from her as we continue to support units and departments in their projects benefitting today’s veterans,” said ALA Foundation Board of Directors President Cathe MacInnes.

Fournier, better known as “The Poppy Lady” is another welcomed addition. Fournier joins the board with over 30 years of nonprofit board experience and has been department secretary/treasurer of Massachusetts since 2014. Additionally, Fournier has been president of her unit since 2021, treasurer of Bristol County Council, District 9, since 2014, and has served as a member of several ALA national committees. Her extensive American Legion Auxiliary knowledge and background, accompanied by her passion to serve veterans, will be a welcomed perspective on the board of directors. 

“Ann’s service to the American Legion Auxiliary will add significant organizational history and wisdom to our discussions. I’ve known Ann for many years and look forward to working with her,” said MacInnes.

The American Legion Auxiliary Foundation will welcome back Diane Duscheck and Anne Parker for three-year terms ending in 2027. Duscheck was re-elected as ALA Foundation Board of Directors vice president and Anne will resume her position as Foundation Secretary.
