The American Legion Auxiliary is a group of dedicated citizens who engage in our Legislative program to provide information and assistance to Auxiliary members to advocate for The American Legion’s Legislative Agenda. Awareness of the Legion’s legislative priorities prepares ALA members to effectively communicate with legislators concerning impending legislation at all levels of our government.

Auxiliary members must connect with the 119th U.S. Congress incumbent and incoming legislators on the issues of The American Legion Legislative Agenda. The Legion’s Grassroots Action Center provides a comprehensive platform to sign up for action alerts, check the status of pending legislation, locate legislators’ contact information, suggest correspondence, and report interaction with legislators.

Auxiliary members’ interactions — whether in person, by telephone, or electronically — with legislators is a crucial voice for our veterans, military, and their families. Utilizing knowledgeable information to persuade elected officials is essential for achieving The American Legion’s priorities. It is often the process of changing or reforming attitudes toward the needed legislature.

Resources available on The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary Legislative webpages empower members to achieve the mission of the Auxiliary’s Legislative Program — to provide information and assistance to members to advocate for The American Legion’s agenda.

When advocating for the Legion’s Legislative Agenda, the Legion Family is a crucial voice from local to national government. Those we advocate for have answered the call to serve this country and preserve our freedom of speech. Therefore, it is essential to use this freedom of speech to advocate for our veterans, military, and their families.
